Beautiful creatures! And difficult to photograph... Finally a decent one, red against blue...
This is where the zoom lens we talked about would come in handy. : )

Lucky you! If I came across the opportunity to photograph this gorgeous creature, I'd be jumping for joy and scare it away. Good catch. Hope this inspires you to grab a great telefoto lens. You have wonderful opportunities where you live. I don't see this in my neck of the woods.

@Kelela: They are amazing, I've been trying to get a nice, close shot since I got my camera in February!!! I know, a good telephoto lens, more than 300mm is the key. But my current photography budget doesn't include a new good lens... So I'll just have to find a way to get closer!!! I thought cardinals are all over the states. So you don't have them? And then there are the Greenjays down near Mexico. Which I plan to visit and photograph sometime this year. They don't come up north, just near the border, and they are gorgeous. Thanks for the comments! And I like your pictures too!!!
